Roberts faced a couple of rejections before publishing her first novel. According to Roberts, being stuck in her house with nothing but snow all around her spurred her to write because she had nothing else to do.Īs soon as she held a pen, she instantly fell in love with writing and ended up producing six manuscripts instantly. It wasn’t until 1979 during a February blizzard when she started writing her first novel. She spent her free time doing arts and crafts, including making ceramics and sewing clothes for her kids.
